Recently I had the opportunity to review a couple of pretty cool products from a company called Evol. Evol Foods has a pretty tasty line of frozen burritos, pizzas, flat breads, and bowls all made with humanely and sustainably raised meats and proteins, hormone-free cheese, fresh produce, and traditionally made tortillas. Every product made by Evol is GMO free and rBST free as well. The greatest thing I've learned about Evol is that they work very hard at Green Manufacturing by recycling a crazy amount, composting, and bundling miles. One more thing you should know about their green manufacturing is that they Wind-e.

Okay, we know carbon offsets are confusing (and even seem a little fishy). Here’s the gist: Though we’re really good about turning the lights off and not standing in front of the freezer with the door open, we do pull electricity from our local power grid. So to offset what we do use, we buy one Wind-e Renewable Energy credit for every kilowatt hour of electricity we use. What does this mean to you? By buying these credits, we are helping to fund the installation of wind turbines in high-wind areas throughout the Midwest and West. Once in place, these spinning turbines will pump renewable energy back into our national power grid. So that means not making new energy, but instead investing in using existing energy. And we’ve got big dreams of doing more. EVOL fans willing, one day we’ll have our own wind farm where our pasture-raised cows, pigs and chickens roam free.
Pretty impressive huh? Now on to taste Evol Foods!
I had no clue what to expect. Some organic foods lack flavor but Evol's line of frozen foods have a ton of great flavor. When I tried the enchilada bowls I felt like I was eating take-out from a local Mexican restaurant and I LOVE Mexican food (Authentic or TexMex)! My favorite enchilada bowl was the Bean and Cheese. It had a perfect hint of lime and the texture of the whole bowl itself was just like an enchilada. The next day for lunch, I tried out the Chicken, Bean, and Rice Burrito and it was just as tasty. Unfortunately Evol Foods products are hard to find out here in the rural areas so the bowls and burritos were all I was able to taste. However, Evol has a ton of foods that I would love to get my hands on next time I'm shopping in the city. Since Evol has a huge selection of burritos with flavors from tofu to breakfast and in a variety of sizes; they seem to have something for everyone.
Before I come to a close on Evol Foods, there are some things you should know. Evol Burritos aren't just meant to be cooked in the microwave or oven; they can also be cooked on the grill, in a Panini press, or pan fried. If you check out Evol's website it tells you the best ways to cook their products, what wines to pair them with, and some pretty scrumptious salad recipes to pair with as well.
With every product you buy from Evol you get a chance to earn some cool gear. All of their products have upc's with points printed on them and every time you hit 48 points, you earn free gear! Right now Evol has another pretty awesome promotion going on where you can be entered to win a Bodum grill and a one month supply of their products just for uploading a photo of your grill masterpiece.
Check out all that Evol Foods has to offer on their website and while you're at it, connect with them on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and Pinterest!
