The Sparkle Box

The Sparkle Box is an amazing book written by Jill Hardie and illustrated by Christine Kornacki that tells a story of a young boy named Sam who learns the real gift of Christmas. Sam is super excited for Christmas and really wants a toy train, but when he notices the sparkly box sitting on the mantle his curiosity is sparked. In the midst of all the Christmas festivities, Sam and his family partake in many different acts of kindness to others. On Christmas morning, when Sam finally gets to open the Sparkle Box, he finds only pieces of paper that have recorded the family's good deeds. Sam's mom explains that the things that they have been doing are, in fact, a birthday gift for Jesus, for Jesus said that whatever we do for those in need, we do for Him.
Jill Hardie started to see her family get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holidays while forgetting about the deeper reason for Christmas. Once she noticed that, she started the Sparkle Box. The Sparkle Box was a great tool to help her teach her family about the joy of giving and that giving is a gift in itself.
I adore this book and the lesson it teaches us about the real reason for Christmas. The illustrations are beautiful and vibrant and the story was so touching it made me shed a tear. Our little family is still new so we don't have many set traditions yet other than the ones that we carried over from our own childhood so I can't wait to try the concept of The Sparkle Box out this year and start our own family traditions. We always tries to give to the Humane Society or do other various acts of kindness each year but this tool will help to intrigue our even daughter more as she grows up.
Each book comes with a cute sparkly box that you can put together with your children to set under the tree or on the mantle. The Sparkle Box is a 10x10 hardcover picture book with a jacket and 32 pages.
I would definitely recommend this book to any family that wants to start a tradition in their new family or add to older traditions for well established families. It's a gorgeous book with a great message and it would be perfect for any child that's learning the importance of giving. To purchase this book for $19.99, click HERE.
This is one of my favorite parts of the book. Make it sparkle!

Herbal Essence Naked Volume Collection

**I received this item for the purpose of a review. I was in no way compensated for my opinion as they are my own. Your opinion may vary from mine.** Herbal Essence has a new collection out called the Naked Collection Volume. Obviously I was intrigued by this because naked to me means no crazy chemicals and my hair loves products like those. I used to have very thick and healthy hair but it has thinned out dramatically since I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease over 5 years ago. Nowadays, my hair is very picky about the products I use. I wouldn't say it's damaged, it actually looks and feels pretty healthy, but it goes flat and becomes greasy quick because of how thin it is. Because of the autoimmune disease I have, I like to watch what kind of chemicals my body comes in contact with. Anything is mess up the balance in a compromised immune system. Needless to say, I was excited to learn more about the Naked Volume Collection by Herbal Essence.  The naked Naked
